Copycat Onion Soup Mix

Homemade Onion Soup Mix

Why do we copycat recipes?  I think the number one reason is because we like the taste.  We may also want to save money, but I think the best reason to copycat a recipe is to remove the unhealthy ingredients.  This recipe doesn't include the MSG that we all know is so bad for us.  I also left out the salt.  While some sodium is necessary for our bodies to function properly, we don't need to consume it in the amounts we do.  For some of us, large amounts are even dangerous.  Read the back of labels and determine if you are getting too much.  This recipe will help you stay within your limit and you won't even miss it!

Ingredients

8 t.    dried onion flakes
2 t.    dried parsley
1 t.    onion powder
1 t.    turmeric
1/2 t. celery seed
1/2 t. sugar
1/4 t. ground pepper

Directions

Measure all the ingredients and place into a bowl.

Mix it all together

Put the mix in an airtight container.

The recipe makes one packet.  I made an extra one for my daughter to take to school!
